Skrillex and Wolfgang Gartner – The Devil’s Den
by nevermore on Jan.02, 2012, under music

One of the new tracks off Skrillex’s new EP “Bangarang” is a collaboration he did with Wolfgang Gartner entitled “The Devil’s Den”.
As most of you know, I LOVE Wolfgang Gartner. Well mostly. He’s had a few disappointing moments but this track…just…wow.
Its everything I love about Skrillex and Wolfgang in one track. These 2 should team up more often. I thought the Animal Rights collab WG did with Deadmau5 was weak sauce. This track is the best bacon in the world, dipped in MSG, coated in chocolate, and then blessed by The Pope.

Feed Me – Cott’s Face
by nevermore on Sep.02, 2011, under music
Feed Me also known as Spor is another great artist that I’ve really come to appreciate over the last few years. Rather its dubstep, house, electro, a remix, everything ive heard from him has been at least good if not great. No wonder why he’s on Deadmau5′s label mau5trap records.
His new track “Cott’s Face” is just superb. Some of the synth voices he uses reminds me of old school mod tracking music like Purple Motion or Skaven252 and i simply just cant get enough of that.
Have a listen…its good!

So basically I think Wolfgang Gartner is one of the greatest producers ever. This dude just keeps coming out with amazing tracks that always make me want to shake my ass…until he released Menage A Trois. The original i thought had some great loops but seemed just a bit boring and not as creative as I’ve come to expect from a Wolfgang track.
I got to talkin with my buddy DJ Cyrus and thought I’d give it a remix.
Started out more dubstep than house but the bass and the loops i wanted to use (had to make them myself as no stems were available) just didnt seem to flow very well above 135 BPM so i dropped it back down to 130 and decided to go a different route.
I really like the way this one turned out. Now if i could just get a lil phatty of my own id be set.

Batch Rename numbered files in DOS
by nevermore on Jun.07, 2011, under Networking, Windows, geeky, work
Well, today my boss “forgot” how to batch rename files in dos. He had a bunch of numbered jpg images like 001.jpg and 002.jpg and needed them renamed to 301.jpg and 302.jpg etc etc. He is an “engineer” from romania
and i quote “When I used to do it, it was much simpler, such as C:\copy *.jpg 100+*.jpg or similar.” Now I’ve been using DOS since 6.22 and to my knowledge copy has NEVER worked like that. Of course i cant just call my boss out so i linked him to some yahoo answers page about how to do it. Being an “engineer” i figured he could READ the page and figure out how to modify the script to suit his needs. He then emails me back and says “Please use the info below and tell me what I need to enter”. LOL. Great. Why cant you just fucking use TotalCommander or some other Windows Commander style application that has a built in rename function?? Or download one of the 100′s of shareware/freeware renamer programs. You DO have antivirus right? Or did you not keep it updated like i told you to? /rant
So anyway, i did it, here it is:
@echo off
SETLOCAL EnableDelayedExpansion
for /f "tokens=1-2 delims=." %%i in ('dir /b *.jpg') do (
SET /A var=%%i+300
copy %%i.%%j !var!.%%j
)
All the script does is a for loop in which it runs a “dir” command and takes the filename (%%i) and adds 300 since the files are numeric and /A means use arithmetic. Then it issues a copy command to make a new copy of the file now with the new number.
Couple things i had forgot about writing dos bat files:
1. While in Cmd all your variables work with a single % but when running the .bat file you have to use 2 ie: %%i otherwise they wont work
2. if you SET a variable and need to call it later %var% doesnt work! you must use !var!
And btw, wtf Microsoft. Why is there no fucking batch rename tool built into windows? Dont you think that might be a handy feature for anyone that has a digital camera? Thats nice you can shout at your Kinect and it will play a youtube or netflix video, but some of us need to do work with computer still and having the OS actually have these types of features that should have been implemented a decade ago might be handy.
Daft Punk & The Glitch Mob – Derezzed (Cryptex Reglitch)
by nevermore on Apr.11, 2011, under Uncategorized

Another great tune from Tyler Chase aka Cryptex this time with a remix of a remix. Derezzed from the Tron soundtrack which was beautiful when Daft Punk wrote it, Glitch Mob gave it their classic glitch styling and then Cryptex comes out swingin’ with a high tempo reglitch.
I really liked Glitch Mob’s remix of this track when i first heard it, only issue i had with it was the tempo cuz i dig more of the fast paced stuff of theirs like More Lazers or the Haiku track (even tho they are both solo tracks from ed and boreta) but Tyler seriously breathed some new life into this track for me. Great job on the dedication to them, love the sampling and stutters. Sick track all around

And here comes Cryptex again with another glitchy banger called “Go”. If you dont know Cryptex you should. Tyler Chase aka Cryptex is a 17 year old from LA. Inspired by all the great glitch coming out of Cali this kid just keeps smashing tracks left and right.
This track is free to download as well from soundcloud!
Keep em coming Cryptex!
